Hi there! Quick warning: what started as a simple introduction might have spiraled into a bit of a rant about life. Hope you don’t mind me going a little overboard :).

Okay, first things first: I know this section is called “About Us,” but to be honest with you, it’s really just one person — it sounds cooler and way more professional than “About Me,” though, doesn’t it?

Anyway, nice to meet you! I’m May, an (almost) 25-year-old living in the Netherlands who’s just started working full-time. Which means I’m in desperate need of something that makes waking up worth it, because working 9 to 5 (or, rather, 9 to 6 because breaks aren’t paid in this beautiful capitalist society) cannot be all there is to life. Right?

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think my job is necessarily bad — most of my coworkers are super nice (a few questionable ones, but that’s to be expected), but what I can’t get behind is how everyone is seemingly okay with spending so much of their day working on tasks that only benefit some random company for a salary that is, if we’re being real, not enough. Personally, I feel like putting a monetary value on our time on Earth is already questionable — but if we must do it, then surely it should be worth a lot more than that!

And then there’s this other thing, where every day, I feel like I’m just pretending and faking my way through life. I know they call this imposter syndrome, and everyone experiences it at some point. But honestly, I’m just waiting for the moment when someone finally realises I have no clue what I’m doing.

When I’m not busy pretending to be an adult, I spend every spare minute I can (so every day after work where I don’t need to cook or clean) searching for new fanfictions, reading those, and then daydreaming about the characters that I just read about. My love for reading fanfictions started ages ago when I watched the Twilight movies for the first time and then devoured all the books in record time. I fell so in love with the world that I just couldn’t let go of Bella and Edward, and that’s when I stumbled upon the magical world of fanfictions.

Since then, I’ve read more fanfics than I can count. Some of them are so incredible they’ve become my go-to pick-me-ups on bad days. Honestly, there are stories out there that (in my humble amateur opinion) absolutely deserve publishing deals. So, I decided to give them a bit of the recognition they deserve by writing about them here.

As a bonus, this blog helps me keep track of what I’ve read and what I thought about it. Because, while some stories have taken up permanent residence in my mind, for others, I’ve often found myself remembering only small details but desperately wanting to reread them to refresh my memory — resulting in hours-long searches to track them down again. So, in many ways, this blog is as much for me as it is for you.

Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy it!
